Doreen "Stiletto" Brusca

stiletto (Doreen Brusca) was dancing before she could walk.  At the early age of three she began taking classes in ballet and Jazz and immediately fell in love with performing.  When not taking classes she was choreographing, directing, dancing and singing in shows wherever she could--even if that meant gathering the family together to get a receptive audience.

Although singing has always been a natural talent, Stiletto (Doreen Brusca) focused her early career on Dance.  She studied locally with Phyllis Federman in her hometown of Brooklyn, NY and then received a scholarship to study at the music Department, division of Dance at CUNY, Brooklyn College where she received her BFA.  After arduous training with June Lewis and Company, she went on to perform with the New York based modern dance company Danzahora, directed by the talented and innovative Doris Chaverra and then performed with the international touring dance company "Circle of Dance".

Stiletto has always been a big fan of musical theater and performed in the off Broadway circuit with the Gallery Players, NY Dinner Theater, and Red Bank's own RTG Productions, effortlessly run by local David Meenan.  Some of the shows include Sadie Goldberg's Meshuggenah Funeral, West Side Story, Grease, Godspell, Cinderella and many more...

In 1999, Stiletto joined forces with Joey and Nicky of Joey Arminio & "The Family".  Because of her previous theater background, she wanted more than just a band.   And "The Family" was looking for more than just a singer.  After auditioning more than a score of singers,  they found what they had been looking for.   The combination of Nicky's exceptional musical talents and Joe's wild stage antics was a  perfect match for her Broadway style voice and gave her the opportunity to perform at what she loves best.

Joey Arminio & "The Family's" Dinner Show, A Night At The 500 Club has been an exciting project for Stiletto.  It is an opportunity to combine her dancing, singing, acting, comedy, writing and directing talents.  She enjoys the opportunity to sing many styles of music.  Sometimes belting out a killer ballad, other times slinking through a sultry jazz tune, or even bringing the audience back a few years with a cutesy 50's style voice.  Her goal is to continue to add creative aspects to the show and take it as far as possible.  Stiletto has been studying guitar and playing the bongos for three years.  She and the guys are excited about collaborating on new original music.  Stay tuned!!

Doreen's latest project "The Joey Arminio & The Family USO Variety Show" has been a great sequel to the Night at the 500 Club.     She was able to utilize her choreography talents as well as adding more dance to the already great show band.

During her time with Joey Arminio & "The Family", Stiletto has enjoyed recording as well as performing with some of the great oldies legends including Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Tommy Roe, Johnny Tillitson and more.  She has shared the stage with The Crosstones, The Duprees, The Happenings, The Skyliners, Don & Juan and her favorites, Larry Chance & The Earls.

Along with performing, Stiletto keeps her peace of mind and stays in shape by teaching (and studying) yoga.  She is currently teaching at www.centerforhealthandhealingnj.com in Toms River, NJ, www.yogacentricstudio.com in Clifton, and at several private locations.
