Janet Volpi

Janet started dancing when she was 4 years old at Edie's Dance Factory in Wood-Ridge, NJ.  Growing up she studied ballet, lyrical and tap.  When she was 12 she started to take pointe and jazz and was asked to join the competition team.  At this age she was also asked to be an assistant for the 3-8 year old classes.  For 6 years Janet competed in large groups, small groups and solos, and won many special awards for technique and style.  During her summers off from Edie's Dance Factory, she trained at Broadway Dance Center and participated in several summer intensive workshops.  She also progressed as an assistant.  After graduating high school she was asked to stay at the dance studio as a teacher.  As she went to college to study fashion she taught at Edie's.  She worked with children ages 3-10 in ballet and tap and teenagers 12-17 in tap and jazz. She maintained her training by taking classes at Broadway Dance Center and Steps during this time.  Janet has been teaching for 5 years and continues to expand her knowledge and love of dance by taking classes in different forms of dance.  She has found a new interest in belly dancing, hip-hop, yoga and zumba.  Currently Janet has decided to leave the fashion industry to pursue her first passion, dance.  Whether it is through teaching, performing or just taking classes, she has a passion to expand her knowledge and constantly improve her techniques to keep up with trends.
